AWIPEV Base has permanent infrastructures which permits to host up to 24 persons. Wet labs, dry labs, -20 freezers, computers, printers, direct Email access, are available on the base. A permanent pool of scientific and logistic equipment is also available, and managed on the field by the Station leader. The permanent staff helps you on the field and assumes safety, technical maintenance, field help. It consists in a team made with a Stationleader (AWI) (engineer or PhD education), and who has followed courses on marine logistics, field arctic winter activities, rifle trainings. An other person is the logistics engineer, in charge on field technical logistic support, shipments to/from Ny-Ålesund. The third person is the 'NDACC' engineer (AWI) in charge of the electronic / technical maintenance for the scientific measurements, especially at NDACC building. In addition to this team, technician from IPEV, in charge of the field logistics equipment maintenance, field survey and safety are present during the high spring and summer periods.

In the following pages you will find a technical description of these infrastructures and equipment, that are updated each September so that to prepare the next campaign. The parts for these equipment, logistics maintenance is available on request. The field team is described also in these pages.

The use of this equipment, and also the accommodation on the base is free of charge for scientists that are allow to work on the base. So that the lists presented in the next pages can be interesting before submitting a project / budget to the institutes.

Note that the permanent observatories equipment (located at the observatory building) is directly managed by AWI, under the responsibility of researchers.

Each item is under the responsibility of one of the two Institutes, which keeps the budget control. The global management is made during the advisory board meeting.
