Several places can be found to store equipment:

Rabot Station (in summer time) : 30 sq. meters + 30 m linear shelves (see below)

Red Garage (in winter time) : 60 square meters (not heated). Boat Garage, recently rented to Kingsbay. Storage capacity for hard equipment on 100 square meters (not heated). Solid shelves.

Marine Lab (in winter and summer time) : 50 square meters

Chemical Lab (in winter and summer time) : 20 square meters

Boat garage (in winter and summer time) : 180 square meters

Otherwise, large equipment can be stored in Kingsbay's storage places (heated or not).

Freezers can be use for samples. -20° C : ca. 20 cubic meters (run by KB), located at the Chemical Lab.

-80°C freezers : 500 L at the Chemical lab. + one of 30 L at Rabot Station

Two lockers for dangerous goods, located at the Chemical Lab. can be used.

Packaging :

AWIPEV can provide such packages for transportation on the field or also back to AWI or IPEV. Shipment organisation must be done by scientists.

• Aluminium boxes different sizes (50 to 200 L).


• Ordinary mail compatible boxes


• Field plastic boxes (20 to 100 L).


• Open solid boxes for large storages


• Wooden boxes can be build for specific transportation at the workshop.


• Containers for nitrogen liquid transportation for samples back to Europe can be borrowed.
