AWIPEV Base's staff is not allowed to organize official trips for recreationnals.

Under the responsibility of the Base Leader, "days off" expeditions can be organized with base's equipment.

Recreational activities in Ny-Ålesund is managed by a local association (Velferden).

But main of the recreational field trips must be organized with Velferden's equipment. Velferden's facilities offers also some huts around Ny-Ålesund.

Any guest can use this equipment (Rigid boat, sea kayak, CD music etc) as soon as they are Velferden's members.

In Ny-Ålesund, 'social activities' are organized, especially during week ends. Kingsbay AS offers a gymnasium, where fitness, indoor sports can be practised (badminton, volley, etc.).

Once a week, a 'bendi competititon' is unformally organized.

A room with TV watch can also be used. Outside jacuzzi and sauna can also be used, after a sweaty trip on the field !.

Most of the hobbies are still photos and one day walks around Ny-Ålesund.
