Terrestrial expeditions
Access to land expeditions equipment inventory.
AWIPEV provides all the equipment necessary for field camps, in complete autonomy for up to 40 days. See here for boats use.
- North Face tents are usually used, with strengthening wires and nets against wind events. Mess tent are also used for permanent camp sites.
- MSR stoves are used, filled with gasoline, and two burners stoves with gas use.
- Sleeping bags are mainly VALANDRE, Camp de base 1300. An inner sleeping bag can also be used at springtime or on glaciers.
- Mattresses (Guidelite/Thermarest) are used.
- Field food is usually brought by the team.
- The communication / safety equipment is also provided, as defences against polar bears. The use of rifles need a training course before the operations start.
- Before each expedition, a briefing on procedures communications and field equipment use is set up with the AWIPEV base leader.
- A complete pharmacy is also provided.
Specific rules have to be followed for field equipment use. Field recommendations from NySMAC have to be followed.
