Winter expeditions

Access to winter expeditions equipment inventory.

AWIPEV organizes such activities out of Ny-Ålesund mainly during the bright season (from March to May). A field equipment for field trips is provided.

The base can also organize expeditions during the dark period, but this must be done for safety reasons in cohesion with other expeditions running on the same time at the same place.

• 4 snowscooters and 3 sledges are available. Personnel must be trained for few hours before a daily expedition, by competent personnel from AWIPEV.
• Winter clothes are also provided.

Each expedition is made under control of AWIPEV staff.
