Pluriannual Projects :

Some multi annual projects are planned, up to 2008, due to their multi annual status, but concerning French ones, this is depending on the annual evaluation by the scientific council.

Long term activities developed on the base follow a global strategy set up with AWI and IPEV together, in the global frame to increase science and logistics tools devoted to it.

AWIPEV Base has based his strategy on three axis :

1. Marine activities, this is linked with the very new Marine laboratory that is running since April 2006.


2. International Polar Year contribution: AWIPEV Base will contribute to the IPY through several international projects.
   • IPY cluster fully supported by the AWIPEV Base : Cluster 16 'HYDROSENSOR'
   • IPY cluster partially supported by the AWIPEV Base, for logistics, out of Ny-Ålesund :Cluster 40 'DAMOCLES'
   • IPY clusters running at least partially in Ny-Ålesund, involving AWIPEV and French and German scientists :

     • 32 - POLARCAT
     • 38 - OASIS
     • 39 - APEX
     • 55 - MERGE
     • 58 - KINVIKA

3. Atmospheric chemistry development, re-building the Corbel Station to be used as an 'clean' tool for these researches, in complementarity with the current projects in Ny-Ålesund.
